8th Annual
Invitational Blue Marlin Release Tournament
2008
The Cat Island Hawk’s Nest Resort and Marina would cordially like to invite you to participate in their 8th Annual Invitational Blue Marlin Release Tournament. The tournament will be a five (5) day event commencing on Sunday May 4, 2007 through Thursday May 8, 2007. This tournament will consist of three (3) competitive fishing days in one of the most fertile fishing grounds and will be followed by a Dinner Party @ Sharkey’s.
Sunday May 4th - Captains Mtg-Dinner
Monday May 5th – First fishing day
Tuesday May 6th- Second fishing day
Wednesday May 7th - Third fishing day
Thursday May 8th- Fourth fishing day - Banquet Night
Entry fee is $1750.00 which includes three colored T-Shirts for fishing days, one tournament T-Shirt and four dinners per boat every night.
THERE IS A “RIGHT OF REFUSAL” TO ALL 2007 TOURNAMENT BOATS FOR DOCKAGE. MUST SIGN UP BY NOVEMBER 15TH! If you have not paid your entry fee before then all spaces will open up to the public!!
To facilitate your stay, Hawk’s Nest offers diesel fuel, gas, beer, soda, ice, laundry facilities, ocean view rooms with clean showers and pool facilities.
Hawk’s Nest takes Visa, MasterCard, Travelers Checks or Cash.

Dateline January 2007
Perfect Parts wins the Second Annual Hawk’s Nest Resort and Marina Wahoo Tournament with a 5 fish total of 297.5 lbs Perfect Parts owner Allen Bir caught only 2 fish on the first day but days 2 and 3 were quite different. Catching the limit on the last 2 days and all being large fish put the team out in front.
Grander came in second with 281.2 pounds of Wahoo was in the lead for the first 2 days of the tournament. Grander caught the limit all three days and reported to have released several Wahoo in the 20 to 30 pound range. This was the case with many of the tournament boats.
Get Er Done finished in third place with a 5 fish total of 255.9 pounds, with the tournaments largest fish in that group. At 107.7 pounds Get Er Done won the prize of the Largest Fish Award. The boat reported hooking up 2 others that were just as large or larger but were unable to get them to the boat.
Coming in forth place was Cow Hunter with 220.3 pounds of Wahoo including a 73 pounder. Cow Hunter caught no fish on the first day due to unforeseen (unseen?) boat problems but they bounced back the last 2 days for the forth place finish.
There was a total of over 2,000 pounds of Wahoo weighted in during the tournament and 80% of the fish was distributed to the local population. It was a wonderful tournament with fishing by some of the best for Wahoo. Between the fishing, the great food and drink after hours, everyone is ready for next year.
